Depression
According to the World Health Organization, the incidence of depression is staggering. In fact, it is estimated that approximately 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression and it is thought to be the number one cause of missed days from work or school. Although it is not uncommon to sometimes lack energy and not feel all that excited about your day, when these days happen more frequently, or if there is very little joy in your life and you feel like there is not much to look forward to, then it is quite possible that you are suffering from depression. Don’t let depression get a hold of you. Speak to your family doctor, seek the assistance of community organizations that deal with mental health issues or contact a therapist to help you manage depression.
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy has written a short article that describes what depression is, how it can affect you and your family, when to seek help, and the types of treatments that are commonly used for managing depression.
